If you want full control over your course structure and content, creating from scratch lets you build everything manually, step by step.
Starting a new course
- From the Colossyan home page, select Create Course
- You'll see two options:
- Create from scratch
- Create with AI
-
Select Create from scratch
You'll be taken directly into the course editor with a single lesson already added for you.
Adding and editing lessons
From the course editor, you can:
- Edit an existing lesson by selecting it to open its contents
-
Add a new lesson by selecting the add lesson option, which adds a new lesson to your course
Build out as many lessons as you need to organise your content into logical sections.
Working with pages
When you edit a lesson, you'll see the page navigation on the left-hand side. Each lesson starts with one page by default.
To add more pages, select the option to add a new page from within the lesson. Pages let you break a lesson into smaller, focused sections.
Adding content blocks
Each page starts with a text block by default. To add more content, select the + button on the page and choose from the available block types:
| Block type | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Paragraph | Rich text for written content |
| Media | Stock or uploaded images and videos |
| Video | Colossyan video drafts and generated videos |
| Divider | A visual separator between sections |
| Multiple choice | A single-answer learner question (formative) |
| Multiple response | A multi-answer learner question (formative) |
| Quiz | A summative assessment block with multiple scored questions |
You can add as many blocks as you need to a page, and mix different block types to create varied, engaging content.
